Frog Bike Buying Guide

Updated: Jul 17, 2023

Frog Bikes are a popular choice when looking for a high-quality, lightweight kids bike. The bikes are designed with a focus on safety and comfort and they come in a variety of sizes to accommodate children of all ages.

In this guide, we will take a look at the different Frog Bike models available and cover some features that make them a great choice for kids.

First Pedal Bikes - Learning to ride

Frog Bike offers three different models of first pedal bikes, these are the perfect entry into the world of pedalling for little ones. The 14-inch Frog 40 is for kids 3 to 4 years, inside leg measurements of 36 cm to 43 cm, the sub 7kg frame makes it easy to handle and also to carry when your child might throw the occasional wobbler.

Frog 44 is then a slightly bigger 16-inch wheel version, aimed at kids 4 to 5 years old or an inside leg 40 cm to 51 cm. As the number naming convention will have it, the next in the range is the 18-inch wheel Frog 47. Suitable for 4 to 6 years with a recommended inside leg of 43 cm to 59 cm

We must say the measurements above are recommendations from the manufacturer, the best thing is to visit us in store ahead of ordering your child's new Frog Bike and we can measure to ensure we get it right.

All Frog Bikes have a lightweight aluminium frame, which makes them easy for children to learn to ride. They also have a low centre of gravity, which helps with balance. The brakes on frog bikes are best in class quality, they are easy for small hands to pull and don’t lose power with flexing like cheap kids bikes.

Hybrid Bikes - Gearing Up

The Frog Bike range then moves to cover more grown up kids, they take everything that works and that they’ve mastered in the first pedal bikes right through the range. Your child is more likely to have mastered cycling and be riding to school or exploring local paths and trails. Frog 61 is a 24 inch wheeled machine for ages 8 to 10 years or an inside leg of 57 cm to 74 cm, gears are an introduction for this model, so you’ll find the 8 speed easy to change gear system on the Frog 61.

As your child moves into their teenage years the Frog 73 takes it all in its stride, under 10kg it remains lightweight and easy to handle and maintains the same high quality cranks, brakes and gears along with the rest of the Frog Bike hybrid range.
